  • Agricultural/Extension/Education/ Economics Specialist on the Project Identification Document (PID) team sponsored by Virginia State University. Reviewed and assessed agricultural extension, research and related training needs. Identified projects which would enhance the agricultural production in the western region of Sudan. Visited several vast agricultural resettlement schemes and rural village communities.

Location: Northern Africa, bordering the Red Sea, between Egypt and Eritrea

National Capital: Khartoum

Area: 967,493 square miles

Population: 40.19 million

Languages: Arabic (official), Nubian, Ta Bedawie, diverse dialects of Nilotic, Nilo-Hamitic, Sudanic languages, English

Climate: tropical in south; arid desert in north; rainy season varies by region (April to November)

Resources: petroleum; small reserves of iron ore, copper, chromium ore, zinc, tungsten, mica, silver, gold, hydropower
