    RESEARCH EMPHASIS
 
 
Dr. Williamson's research include economic and rural development studies affecting land use, resource management, manpower training, research and extension development, and efficiency of small and large farms in diverse geographical settings. Articles have been published in journals, bulletins, special reports, books, book chapters and in the Congressional Record.
 
Dr. Williamson developed a proposal for the Jamaica Agricultural Planning Project and served as Senior Project Consultant for A.L. Nellums Associates. He also developed and implemented an evaluation of economic impact of Historically Black Universities on community development. Dr. Williamson conducted an Equity Study and Literature Review on the Status of Women and Minority Farmers in the United States and of their Participation in USDA Programs.
 
Dr. Williamson reviewed and evaluated research project proposals, program guidelines, annual reports/work plans and other related aspects of cooperative activities between U.S. universities and the Agency for International Development (AID). He developed a data base for expediting oil, gas and mineral leasing. He also worked as a consultant for the Peanut Collaborative Research Support Program (CRSP). As a resource consultant, Dr. Williamson developed working papers on small farms and regional economic development issues in Tennessee.

In the course of my research I have been a consultant for private businesses, private voluntary organizations, the U.S. and foreign governments, and for educational institutions. My consulting efforts have focused on institution building, economic development, and impact analyses on a global scale.Research gives me the opportunity to be involved in issues of importance on both the domestic and the global levels.
